All are welcome to choir practice! Director: Bryan B. Hott
History:
Sweet Praise choir formed in February of 2006. Eight members strong, the group began singing songs every Sunday during the morning worship service. Since that time, the group has grown to be as large as 23 members when all are present and performs at other functions beyond the regular worship service including memorial services, celebrations, and various other church functions such as the Christmas and Easter programs as well as our annual spring choir concert.
Most of the songs we sing are SATB, which means Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass or four-part harmony with many of the songs being a level 4 or 5 out of 5. As the director, I try my best to offer a mix of songs in terms of style, tempo and variety. Accordingly, I try in “strike a chord” with everyone through encompassing traditional, praise, worship, contemporary, and gospel songs as well as the occasional African spiritual.
The choir reaches out to others not only by performing each Sunday at the church for the congregation but also by going out into the community. About three times a year, the choir travels to four different nursing homes to perform for the residents. The choir also provides refreshments and fellowship with them.
I believe everyone would agree that choir is a fun time for all of us not only because of the music but also because of the laughs and good times we share. If you would like to join us, talk to Bryan or just simply show up one evening for practice! You don’t have to be a great singer--- just open to having fun while praising the Lord!!!
